Gasshuku 2010 « Result #5 on Dec 4, 2009, 3:23pm »
Oss, the Coppid Beech Hotel looks like the ideal venue for our 7th Gasshuku. We need to get the numbers of the participants in soon as the hotel are asking for them to save the rooms. I will add a draft of the letter that i will send to all prospective attendee's.
Sensei Pell
Oss everyone,
We are arranging our 7th consecutive Gasshuku. This year the venue is the Coppid Beech Hotel in Berkshire, which is much closer than our previous venues. The training dates are the 26th, 27th and 28th of March 2010.
The cost is £140.00 per person. This includes all training. Friday night’s accommodation. Saturday’s night accommodation, breakfast and evening meal. Sunday breakfast and Sunday lunch.
The hotel has a gym, swimming pool and Spa facilities, including, a steam room, Jacuzzi etc. The hotel also has 2 distinctive bars, a live music venue and a nightclub. You can visit their website at www.coppidbeech.com for a more comprehensive look.
On our previous Gasshuku’s we have arrived on Friday afternoon to relax before the Friday night session, which starts at 1800 and lasts approximately 2 hours, this allows us time to go and eat out afterwards. Alternatively, this year we could eat in the hotel on Friday night as well. Our Saturday training session will start after breakfast at 10.30 or 11.00 until approx 15.00. We have some breaks during that time to take on board food and water. We split the sessions up into 30 minutes to an hour depending on the instructor’s lesson. Sessions in the past have included bag work, Kihon, Kata/Kata bunkai, street fighting, bar scenarios, takedowns, pressure points and various types of Kumite. Saturday afternoon and evening is free time to relax in the hotel or in the busy town. Sunday’s training is from 10.00 until 12.00 and is normally geared up to ease out stiff muscles and to have a good stretch. We are looking forward to meeting up and training with our friends from the English Shotokan Karate Association again and to their senior instructors taking sessions.
The hotel is asking for a larger deposit than we have paid previously and due to the number of late cancellations in 2009 we need a non-refundable deposit of £70.00 per person, the balance will need to be paid by the 1st March.
